While the food at D4 is good, the service leaves much to be desired. They just don't care about their customers. I went with a large group and we ordered a ton of food and drinks, including the 6 pulled pork sliders. Strangely, only 5 sliders arrived. We asked our waiter for the missing slider. It never arrived. In fact, our waiter never checked back at all. We needed drinks, extra salad dressing, etc. When the bill arrived we asked for the sliders to be taken on. Our waiter reduced the bill by a whole 90 cents!!! That wasn't even the cost of 1 slider. When I told the manager he said that "next time" we could ask for Steve and he'd send over a drink...right. "next time." We live in the area and have not plans to return.
Report This ReviewI went there with my wife last night for dinner. It's nice to have an upscale Irish pub just off Michigan Ave where you can sit outside on the patio. We split the brie and apple appetizer. I had the fish and chips. My wife had the asian shrimp salad. It was all delicious. Service was great. I'll definitely be back.
Report This ReviewWho would expect to find shrimp and grits at an Irish pub? But they were delicious. I hope they never take this off the menu.
Report This ReviewThe bar and space is really incredible. There is a lot of seating, a fire place, high ceilings with beautiful chandeliers. They did a great job with the space planning and ambiance. Now if there service could only mimic the style. Our server was brutal. He didn't pay attention to us at all, waters were never refilled, plates sat on the table for too long. The food was good and I'd go back to give it another shot, I'll just avoid having the same guy serve me again.
Report This ReviewThis place was great. The bartenders were super nice, and the crowd isn't creepy at all (like a few other Streeterville bars). With the new decorations up, the place is pretty cozy. It was also super clean. I don't think I've ever had a bad time here.
Report This ReviewI went to D4 last night with three friends before a Movie at AMC. I was a little hesitant because 2 out of the 3 reviews on Metromix were poor, but our experience was great. I ordered the Fish n Chips and was very happy with them. My friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and said it was one of the best he's had. Our other friends ordered the corned beef and french dip and found them to be exactly as they expected. The service was friendly and very prompt, all in all, I look forward to the next time I get to go back.
Report This ReviewVery good, the scotch and sparkling wine have great prices and the staff is very nice. The appetizers and desserts are good, too. Didn't have main courses. Great place for drinks and snacks.
Report This ReviewIf you are really craving some poorly executed Irish bar food with twist, you better get over to D4 fast. It was mostly empty when I was there, and it will probably be out of business soon.
Report This ReviewI've been twice. The first time I called ahead to make sure it wasn't closed for a private party during the holidays. They said no, come on in. When we get there (8 of us) a sign on the door said "closed for private party". They said we could have a table for 30 minutes & kept dropping by to tell us so. The 2nd time was worse. We were ready to give it another chance. We were meeting some people and 2 of us went to the outdoor seating & pulled a table next to another. The Hostess appears confrontationally & asks if she can help as she abruptly pulls the table back. I looked at my friend & said, I guess they are always rude here. She replied, & this is no lie. "Do you always rearrange the furniture at the restaurants that you go to? We consider that rude." We told her that we had 10 people & she said she could pull some tables together on the sidewalk but not on the patio because it was too crowded. We would have left but 8 other people were meeting us so we went inside & spoke with the Manager. He was professional & said he would speak with her and that it would be smooth sailing after that. Where was our apology? We were just called rude by a hostess because we tried to move a metal table with no glass or silver on a half empty patio in questionable weather. It was not smooth sailing. We asked about specials, & were told there were none only to find out before it ended about the happy hour food specials. 6 people ordered food & we had to ask for napkins & silver & the waiter forgot one girl's wine. We reminded him 20 minutes later. The Manager did check on us & the waiter was cordial. The food was good but it usually is at Irish Pubs. They really need to lighten up, after all, it is an Irish Pub (upscale or not) not fine dining. People want to relax and enjoy themselves at Irish Pubs. As we were leaving, we walked past the patio and the tables we tried to move were pulled together with 8 people.
Report This ReviewWe went to D4 on Friday and Jessie, our waitress, was awesome. She went above and beyond with exceptional service. The manager also called ahead to our next bar so they would be expecting us! Had a table waiting for us when we got there. Unbelievable! Thanks guys!
