Barba Yianni Grecian Taverna
- Neighborhood: Lincoln Square
- 4761 N. Lincoln Ave.
- Chicago, IL 60625
- 773-878-6400
- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
Quiet during the day, this Greek tavern comes alive with boisterous shouts of "Opaa!" at night. Since 1993, Barba Yianni has made its home in the heart of Lincoln Square, far from Greektown. The name means "Uncle John," in honor of owner Tom Christopoulos' uncle, who brought his family to the states. You'll find traditional Greek specialties and a selection of 20 Greek wines. White walls, colorful murals and potted plants give the restaurant an open, Mediterranean feel.
