Schnitz happens!

Yes, as some may remember on a fated night in November, Prost did have a problem or two. We didnt actually run out of beer, but our draft system had a major malfunction and lost all pressure, rendering us unable to pour beer for about an hour. To all of our very valued patrons and friends: We are sorry! Steps have been taken to make sure this never happens again, and we hope that anybody with a bad review for Prost gives us another chance. Everyone that works here truly loves it, and it shows in the time they take to make sure everyone has a great time. It truly is a different atmosphere than you can find anywhere else in the city. Thanks for reading this, and we hope to see you at Prost soon!

Wouldn't have believed it I hadn't seen it for myself.

As a longtime resident of Chicago, I had until last night not had a chance to hit up Prost. So a friend and I headed there after grabbing dinner & drinks last night, probably around 11 pm....only to discover they were OUT OF BEER!

Yes, that is no typo - very early in the evening last night, Prost ran entirely out of beer. As my headline suggests, I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself. Apparently they had some 40 oz's behind the bar, so they were able to appease some people with those, but as for the people waiting to get their HB mugs filled and the people desparately holding their beer boots, Prost fell far short.

What a joke this place is, honestly - how could something that purports to be a german beer bar not have beer? I will never go here again.

A beautiful little place where the German beer flows like water and everyone is covered in Badger red. By far, my favorite day drinking bar in Chicago!

Best Wisconsin bar in Chicago
By melZ710 from Chicago, August 31, 2008

On Saturdays Prost becomes a University of Wisconsin themed bar. I've been to many Wisconsin bars in Chicago, but Prost is my favorite by far. The intimate German-style setting brings all types of Badger fans together. I always look forward to spending my Saturdays with fellow alumni drinking out of das boot, eating cheese curds, singing fight songs, and most importantly, cheering on the Badgers!

Prost is fun for those of us who like to drink beer... don't go to Prost expecting to meet girls or get a rum and coke.

3 Cheers for Prost!

So, I went to Prost last night for the first time, and I must say, the place is amazing. The beer was fantastic, and the staff was great. I'm kind of a sucker for good German beer, but to be honest, it was the sign that said "Bobbing for Apples Nov.14" that caught my attention. So, as part of an extraordinary team of 6, we went to bob for apples. And I think it's fair to say that all expectations were far exceeded. I mean, really, where else can you completely submerge your face into a tin barrel of water and sink your teeth into tasty galas? You better believe that we all walked out of there with that "I just got thrown in a pool" look to prove just how much fun we had. Coupled with the German music (a few brilliant rounds of "Ein Prosit"), and maybe even some polka dancing, my overall Prost experience was incredibly worthwhile. Sehr gut!

Ive been hearing good things about this new german bar lately. When i got around to checking it out, it really lived up to expectations. To start it off the manager was very friendly in welcoming us and answering the many beer questions we had. We also had a very cute and cool waitress that made suggestions and got us to try a boot. This was when the fun really started. She explained the history of the boot and rules of chugging it down. about halfway through the night we decided we were hungry and ordered a large variety of impressive german meals. Basically im pretty pumped for the next trip to Prost.

Iove this place!

I really dont know what everyone is complaining about. this place is great! people are saying the employees are rude, if you're looking for someone to bend over backwards for you, then go to Gibson's or something. the whole theme of this bar is and Old English style tavern where people go and sit at huge tables together and party! Plus i would imagine that most the folks posting negative reviews have only been in the bar maybe a few times at most and havn't really had the chance to appreciate the uniquness of Prost. There is no other bar like it around. And the only other city I know of where you can get a boot full of good imported beer is Madison, and any place that compares with Madtown is ok with me. so please do not change anything about this bar. the service is great, and I will most definitely continue to come back.

We went to Prost and...
By Matt from Chicago, IL, September 1, 2007

We went to Prost and ordered the Boot, a 2L boot-shaped beer glass that with a $65 deposit, understandable, as it is an item people would try to steal. We passed it around, and upon finishing it, our friend set/slammed it on the table, and it cracked. Wasn't a gentle set but nowhere near a slam. Our waitress said we had to pay the $65. We apologized but also questioned why since it was an accident. But they said there was nothing they could do. She also mentioned that this wasn't the first boot to break. But when the male staff member started getting rude and actually cursed at one of the girls in our group, we had enough. We told them there was no need for that, got our check and left. The $65 wasn't the main issue, but the rude treatment we got is unacceptable. Instead of handing the situation politely and winning some new customers, they ensured that we will never return.
