Ok, I'm a bit partial here, being mostly German. Although I've had a chance to have a brat or two, I'm more impressed by the beer selection and overall atmosphere on Saturdays than anything else. Forget Uberstein and Wrigleyville, this is a little more cozy and enjoyable. No das boots, but they have giant steins of God's nectar. They have some rarer German beers you won't find anywhere else on tap. Also don't miss the Polka Band which plays on the weekends. I can honestly say this is my favorite hangout in the City!
Report This ReviewExtremely slow service. We waited over an hour for our food even though it was barely a third full. The food was average, the beer list good. We had to chase up our waitress who told us "the food is coming" and then brought it out literally twenty seconds later, so clearly the meals had been sitting under a heat lamp in the kitchen.
Report This ReviewI love this place. I cannot wait until the patio opens again this summer.
The menu is a great deal with soup or salad with an entree and you will not find a better selection of beers on tap in the city.
We typically have dinner here once a week and I love the salad with the yogurt dressing and the quarter chicken with german mashed potatoes ($8.95). They have a very wide selection of beers and the service has always been very very good. Its much more low key than the other nearby German restaurants/bars.
Report This ReviewIt's always fun to try new entree's..... The Apple Strudel was UNBELIEVABLE.... wanted to cry it was so good....
Report This ReviewGood beer, but that's about it. Dark seating area and the late menu is lacking.
Report This ReviewThe most beautiful outdoor seating in the city! The flowers are magnificent and the food and drink were outstanding. The portions were a generous side and came with choice of soup or salad. Fun and relaxing!
Report This ReviewExcellent fish fry on Friday nights! It was $10.95 and delicious. The portion was generous and the perch and fries were cooked to perfection.
Report This ReviewTalk about small portions! I ordered a Reuben sandwich and fries. Did I mistakenly order off the freakin' kid's menu? I thought they forgot to put the other half of the sandwich on the plate. The "sandwich" was 2 bite size triangles. And the fries... it looked like someone counted exactly how many fries to put on the plate.
Report This ReviewThe food was delicious and comes with soup or salad. Great value! The beer choice is the best i have ever seen. Jazz was starting when we left, too bad we could not stay to hear them play. I will be back.
