Miramar: User Reviews
My wife and I had a Saturday night, 8 pm reservation at Miramar. We go to Gabriels often and thought we would try something new. We should have walked out immediately. The restaurant is extremely loud, I believe mostly due to the tin tiled ceiling. Two other couples left because of the noise (wish we had). We are not old foggies. We are in our mid-forties and recently moved from downtown. Nevertheless, this restaurant is obnoxiously loud. We stayed since the waiter was kind, the food was decent, and the waiter apologised profusely for the excessive noise. Skip this place if you are expecting to enjoy your meal in nice surroundings.

I keep trying and they keep dissappointing. Lyonaisse is ok - bacon was sorta raw. But the real let down was the steak frites. Their was an abundance of potato sticks that reminded me of those canned potato sticks from my childhood - hated those too - and the plate was hotter than the steak. It looked and tasted like it was left over from yesterday's service. And its way to pricey for a bistro.

We've eaten here many times, at lunch, at dinner, outside and inside. While it can get a little noisy, the service has always been friendly and prompt. I've never felt rushed. We especially like the hamburgers and thin, crispy fries, which are a bargain for less than $10, but the skate, mahi-mahi, and other fish dishes are always delicious. The martinis are generous and they give me two olives as I always request. Cheese and fruit plate features tasty, rich cheeses, generous portions.
We'll be back, of course.

We went there yesterday. The food was very good. We ordered the dover sole, skate, and mahi mahi. All were excellent: tasty, good presentation, great texture. The service was good, prompt and courteous. We didn't encounter what other reviewers said. I gave five star on the food and service but four star overall because I think it was a bit pricey (though worth it). We would go back there and recommend to others.

Service? Horrid service. Slow, condescending, slow, indifferent and, did I say slow? Prices are outrageous for the food. The Salad Lyonaise was superb. Fresh frisee, warm lardons, nice poached egg and wicked dressing. But $9.95 for a salad? Escargot a little to heavy on the garlic, but nonetheless very good. All in all, three salads, one escargot and two cocktails should NOT cost $70.00. That is insane. Shame on you Gabe Viti! Train the servers better, lower the prices and when the novelty has worn off, you will still have a vibrant, fun restaurant.
Report This ReviewI was reading the other reviews and I was totally shocked. A friend and I dined at Miramar just last Friday and had a great time. Not only did it offer a great dance club, but I felt very special and appreciated the moment I walked in the front door. I was greeted with a handshake and "Welcome to Miramar", and seated promptly (we made reservations planning ahead and figuring we might have to wait without one). It only got better from there, the wine list had so much to offer and the menu had so many great choices that it was hard to choose my entree. We had a great time! I will definitely be back.....
Report This ReviewWhie this restaurant sounded promising I don't think I'll be returning any time soon. Seating was prompt and service was good however, I felt insulted when the waiter read the special dishes for the day and the price right after each one. It wouldn't of been such a big deal if he had read the prices to the table next to us but he did not. The waiter stopped in to check on us a total of 3 times. While the bus service was excellent the waiter did lack enthusiasm. Finally, I tipped according to what I thought was fair for two people (around $80.00) but the manager disagreed. He stopped me at the bar and asked me to leave more tip. He did this in front of the whole bar and in front of my date. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I explained the situation but decided to tip him two extra dollars and left the restaurant.
Report This ReviewThis place is a disaster -- expensive, poor quality, useless staff and a waste of money. Avoid at all costs.
Report This ReviewThis is the place to miss. We went there on a Saturday night. I felt that the wait staff was pushy barely sat down and the waiter was all over us about every minute to see if we decided. The place was loud and the food was lousy and overpriced.
Report This ReviewMy boyfriend & I did not experience the "bar" atmosphere, so I can't comment on that. Overall, I like this place and we've been back a few times since our first visit. I like the food: try the artichokes with sauce appetizer; the salads are very interesting but stick with the caesar unless you are into experimenting with apples, nuts, and white lettuce; the dinners are yummy - loved the ahi tuna, salmon, and duck. The atmosphere is open and there is nothing private about dining here. I read the other reviews & we have never experienced any of what the others spoke of. The staff has always been curteous, prompt, & gone out of their way to make our dining experience pleasant. Parking is not a problem, and there are no concerns with eating here on a work night and getting home at a decent time. Maybe things changed after the staff read the nasty reviews.
