Maijean: User Reviews
We love Maijean. When we get ready to go out to dinner as a family, the only place that we can all agree on is Maijean. Our kids are 21, 15 and 13. They love the food as much as they love the chef. They treat as as valued guests and treat our children as they belong in the restaurant. The food at Maijean has always been wonderful....from the sweetbreads and marrow sandwich that Nadia makes for my husband to the soup, fish and hanger steak that she makes for the girls in our house. The addition of the "float" on the dessert menu has all of us talking and thinking about how much fun and how different it is. This place has never disappointed. Ever.
If you are not hungry, go for dessert and sit outside in the front.

The ambiance was what drew me into the restaurant and it continued to impress. However, the food, although done well, was not what the reviews or the menu seems to promise. It was my expectation to linger in the light of a restaurant at or of the same calibre of Le Francais...It is a far cry from it.
Although I would recommend the restaurant, I will not return myself. I can do this myself, in my own kitchen.
Thank you for the opportunity to review.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary, and although the food, service, and ambiance were good, it was a little pricey for what you get. Definitely not the best French food we've ever had, but not the worst either. For $180 for two (including tip) I expect a little more. I don't think I'd go back.

We've been five times and it only gets better and better! Love this restaurant!! It was closed on July 4 weekend and we were very sad we could not come in with some great friends from out of town. The wine list is extraordinary, the ambiance is rich and abundant with delicious smells and sights. The food is delicious and the service is always improving. Thank you for coming to the Western suburbs, Chef Nadia.

My wife and I took my brother out to dinner at Maijean. We each had cocktails, wine, three courses and dessert. My brother who dines at fine restaurants across the country said that his Halibut was the best meal that he'd had in a restaurant in years. I too am no stranger to good food and really enjoyed my meal, as did my wife. In a suburban land of chain restaurnants and average food, Maiijean is in a class with only the likes of Vie in Western Springs to sooth a forlorn palate.

6 of us celebrated my husband's birthday on a snowy, icy night and everything was wonderful from the minute we got out of the car and were met by a valet who escorted us around the sleet and snow with a cheery greeting. It only got better once we got inside. This new venue truly has made a committment to service. Fromt the greeter to the busboys to the bar tender Artie, they are all about making your dining experience relaxed, yet special. Each of our entrees were expertly prepared, served nice and hot after good suggections from our polished, yet funny waiter. On a night when the weather was beastly, the ambience, complete with fire in the fireplace, could not have been more inviting. Even though the place was full and busy, we never felt rushed nor did the noise level prohibit good conversation. This place just has great energy all around addn we're really glad to have it in our neighborhood. ps, the duck was fabulous! Kudost o chef Nadia, all 6 of us loved our entrees!

Now that I have eaten there 3 times I can honestly say it is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in the Chicago area. The selections are classic in nature with a creative touch that does not take away from the basic dish, but enhances it. The "specials" are truly Special. The service is professional and attentive without being pretentious. The wine list is fairly extensive and well priced. The restaurant is cozy, but a bit noisy when it's full. The unique Art Nouveau decor is well done and adds to the whole experience. I know I will be a regular.

Report This ReviewI came expecting an outstanding dinner. The food, service and atmosphere were average. Vie is still the best in the Western Suburbs.
