The Firkin & Pheasant
- Neighborhood: Lincoln Park
- 670 W. Diversey Pkwy.
- Chicago, IL 60614
- 773-327-7040
- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
This casual English pub is locally owned and part of the Toronto-based Firkin franchise. Save for now-closed The Firkin & Fox in west suburban Glen Ellyn, it's the only outpost in Illinois. P.S.: It may sound like it, but it's not related to Firkin in Libertyville.
Step inside this crisp and comfy interior to find black woodwork, cherry red booths and, of course, a fine round-up of beers on tap. Besides English and Irish imports such as Guinness, Stella, Harp, Newcastle, Boddingtons and Fuller's London Pride, you'll also find seasonal picks from Goose Island, Sam Adams and Leinenkugel's. Traditional pub favorites such as fish and chips and cottage pie are backed up by a supporting cast of sandwiches and burgers.
