Very nice to look at, both the club and the customers. The music is usually legit and my husband and I usually have a good time. Not the biggest place, but that's ok.
Report This Reviewplace is trashy. comparable to bad downtown detroit club. too many good clubs in chicago to waste time here.
Report This ReviewThis is not a huge place, but the remodeling looks great. I've been to nearly all the clubs in Chicago and this place definitely ranks toward the top simply because of the great music... most places in Chicago play hip hop mixes, which gets INCREDIBLY old. This place played all sorts of dance mixes, and I can honestly say it's the best music I've heard at any club (if you're into dancing). We got there early because we had bottle service, and the door guys were very nice (and no, we did NOT tell them we had a table reserved). The waitresses and bartenders weren't anything specTACular, but they were very nice and provided good service. I wish this place was just a little larger, but I've definitely seen much smaller in this city..... if you're looking for a lounge to hear great dance music with an attractive crowd that isn't ridiculously pretentious, this is a great place.
Report This ReviewA Diamond-in-the-Rough. That's Spybar to a tee. In a town where the emphasis seems to be on creating "a European nightlife experience", it's nice to have a place that Chicago House-Heads can call their own. Spybar is dark, loud, and maybe a bit overcrowded at times...but IT'S A HOUSE CLUB. They are all like that. Chicago, New York, Miami. It makes no difference. The difference is, in a good club like Spybar: you get quality DJ's (both local and global), friendly service, and a cool atmosphere. You can tell right away that the people are there to dance, not just stand around trying to look cool and pose to Techno. Drink prices are the same as every other place in the city (HIGH), but Spybar more that makes up for that with it's SIK PUMPING BEATZ. This is a definitive club that contributes to the "scene and sound" of the Windy City. If you don't like good House music and need more space, then go across the street to Sound Bar.
Report This ReviewSpybar is a stereotypical club. Way too loud, terrible music, overpriced weak drinks, and a sea of hair gel and nasty cleavage! Nothing about this place was special or unique. The decor was the only somewhat redeeming quality. It has noticeably been recently renovated. It's too bad it is wasted on such a lousy clientele. I would not recommend this unless you are A) a girl looking for some cheesy one-liners or B) a guy looking for some unsophisticated ladies....
Sorry Spybar!
