I can't think of any other late night venue in Wicker Park that is more inviting. I usually go on Fridays and Saturdays and feel that the djs cater very well to the crowd and keep the music very diverse. I bartend and it is nice to have a place to go after work to dance and have fun. All different types of people get down together at evil olive. Just check Rob Zoom's photos.
Report This ReviewThe people working in this place are the rudest, meanest people I have ever met. The guy at the door is so dumb that when you ask him a question, he simply shrugs his shoulders. The bartenders think they so cool that they look at you and then ignore you. I waited 30 minutes to be served a drink after the bar tender looked at me like 4 times and walked away from me . I would not recommend this place to anyone
Report This ReviewIf u just wanna relax dance a lil bit this is the place to be!!!!!!!!!! I went there for the first time this wednesday it was awesome.....I don't like house music at all but going here with its awesome dj made me really change my perspective!!!!!!!!!! I HAD A BLAST =D
Report This Reviewtwo of my friends used to work there, so we used to go there a lot since they always gave us special prizes. I like the decor, but it is pricey and the music is all over the place, now that they dont work there anymore, we dont go there any more, so you get the idea...
Report This Reviewhorrible bartenders; bad music; i've had a bad time all 3 times i've tried this place out.
Report This ReviewA lot of people and websites recommended this bar as a great place to get a martini, but I've had better at Lucky's in Wrigleyville (a typical bar/sandwich place). Their website and other sites like Yelp recommended certain martinis, which ended up being well over $11 a piece and their 'wide variety' of olives and olive plates. However, we found out that these olives just don't exist. For a bar with olive in the name, they were certainly stingy with extra olives when we requested them AND had 'run out' of blue cheese stuffed olives. And, contrary to information on their website, they didn't even have other varieties of olives to order or have in martinis. Once the place started filling up (we went around 10 on a Saturday night), our service became poorer and poorer. Our server was pretty slow to begin with, even with the place empty, but she definitely got worse as the night went on. We even had to reorder our last two rounds of drinks twice because she had forgotten about our group (even though there were about 10 of us). All in all, a very poor and dissapointing experience and I would definitely not recommend this bar to anyone looking for a good martini. Bar Celona and Tryst have better specials, service, and martinis than even a martini bar like EvilOlive and they're both in the heart of Wrigleyville (and the Tinis only cost $5).
Report This ReviewReally fun place, especially as a late night bar. Overall, friendly staff and great DJ's. Even when the bar was crowded, I only waited about a minute to get my drink and the bartender was really friendly.
Music was perfect for the atmosphere that night, I would describe it as an upbeat mixing of hip-hop and rock combined with good techno.
Whether you feel like going all out and dancing all night or just sitting at a table and drinking with your friends, this bar offers a great atmosphere for both. They have large booths where our group of 6 or 7 enjoyed that night.
Check this one out, thumbs up!
Word around town is that there's a new manager at Evil Olive...sounds like a move in the right direction for a great bar that's just not getting the attention it deserves! I love Evil Olive!
Report This ReviewI have been to this bar twice, now. The first time the bar was dead all Friday night but the bartenders were too busy socializing to serve us. The music was all over the place. It wasn't overly crowded though and the decor was nice so I decided to try it again.
The second time was for a private party and it was beyond terrible. The managers were completely clueless. They sold us the wrong bracelets, sent us to the wrong area and party, and when we asked questions the management rolled their eyes at people and was extremely rude. The only people that didn't present a rude pretentious attitude were the bathroom attendants. If this bar makes it, I will be really shocked.
Went there this weekend for the first time. We had a blast. Great music. Much better than the old Four nightclub. Keep up the good work.
