It's not unusual for nightspots to open around a theme, but never did we consider palindromes as a premise. From front to back, that's literally what you get in Evil Olive, brought to you by Three Headed Productions (Le Passage, Junior's Sports Lounge, Salud Tequila Lounge and Cans Bar and Canteen). The palindromic late-night hang operates on a playful note, from the creative cocktails (Dr. Awkward; Yo, banana boy; and the namesake Evil Olive) to stenciling on the walls (If I had a hi-fi).
With a decidedly edgy rock 'n' roll vibe, Evil Olive caters to an eclectic crowd. Large, U-shaped booths and high-top tables provide plenty of seating; a pool table, jukebox and old-fashioned photo booth add to the party; and the second-floor looks across at a stage where resident DJs spin a soundtrack of rock, hip-hop and mainstream tunes. Plus, projectors and the six flat-screen TVs sometimes show cult classics.
