Pretty Good

I went to The Funky Buddah Lounge for the first time on Friday night. Inside iit was nice, a little small. The bartenders were all friendly but i paid 8 dollars for a jack and coke-wow. The crowd was a little stand offish, I went there by myself and tried talking to people who seemed completely uninterested. The DJ was great, spinning all my favorite reggae and hip hop hits. Once I started dancing, I didn't care about the stand offish people because the music was so great, and I had an excellent dance partner. The dance floor is not all that big, and it wasn't all that crowded, but a lot of people seemed kind of scared to dance. The bartenders were also very speedy to refill my water needs as i was sweating like a maniac, but then again it wasn't too crowded. Overall a great expirience sheerly for the great music- Me and this guy I was dancing with were the primary people dancing and it was as if the DJ could sense just what we wanted to hear. It was great.

Buddha is still one of the hottest places!

The place has been open and running for over a decade! As far as the djs, particularly saturdays, they're talented guys. The staff is great, music is always good, and the bouncers up front were very friendly. How can you not have a great time if you go to BUDDHA!!!

Horrible Service

I went to this club on a Thursday night for my friends birthday. The scene was decent but when it came to ordering drinks it was a joke. The club was not that busy and my friend and i were trying to order a drink and the bartender competely ignored us. My friend got mad and the bartender told the bouncer to kick us out. Never in my life have I been kicked out of anywhere espcially a place where we were spending 6 dollars for a beer and ordering rounds of shots. I did not appreciate the fact that they were so rude to us once they brought us outside and then i requested to talk to the manager and he came out and he was a total jerk too. No one deserves to be kicked out of a club because something so stupid espically when you bring about 20 people with you and you are spending a lot of money. No customer service what so ever. I will never go back to this place and you better bet that when someone asks me if I have ever been Funky Buddah Lounge they will know about my bad expirience. Maybe the people at this bar should remember one of the most important priciples of business, word of mouth can make or break you.

Not Bad on Sundays
By RavenCash from Lake Shore, October 2, 2008

Sundays is cool here. they do a poetry set from 9 to 11pm, then it turns into a party. Drinks are pretty good, music is pretty good, and the women are usually friendly. The only problem I have with this place is that I always see the same people there. My guys and I may go once every two months, and i promise we see the same people who love poetry and have the dreads in their hair. Just go one time, and never come back....unless you wanna see the same people when you return.

I'm so sure

Well, what can I say? If I wanted to hear some third rate DJ spin B96's top ten I would just listen to the radio. Do yourself a favor and save your hard earned cash (a $20 cover is just insane), buy a decent bottle of whiskey, and kick back at home. The crowd was--to be very frank--hostile and unwelcoming. The atmosphere was lacking and the decor was nothing to write home about. I honestly don't understand what all of the fuss is about. Find some other place to get your rocks off or just stay put. Totally Bogus.

i went for the first time last night to see what all the fuss was about. i had a great time. the djs played the best hip hop , house mix i ever heard. none of the same music over and over. nothing but grown folk music. the atmophere was great. they kept the place nice and cool when the dance floor heated up. we showed up early so we got in free and there was plenty of parking. the crowd was diverse and the place never got that packed. my only gripe was there was no where to sit cause all the couchs were reserved for people that didnt even show up til bout one in the morning
