The Bank Restaurant & Bar
2.8
The menu, courtesy of chef Pattrick Cassata (Eclectic, 10 West, Spa Cafe), offers dishes both standard (calamari, crabcakes, burgers, steak) and less conventional (Hawaiian purple sweet potato soup, habanero ravioli, wild boar taquitos). Sit on the main floor at the bar or dining room, or head downstairs to the lounge, which features a stone fireplace and original stone foundation walls. Reasonably priced house wines are served by the quartino or bottle, and there's also more than a dozen beers on tap. The financial name indicates homage toward the city's past: This was the former digs of the first Gary-Wheaton Bank in 1875, and you'll find plentiful historic photographs and other tasteful nods toward the spot's original identity throughout.
