- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
Named after a character in M*A*S*H, Hawkeye's caters to docs, jocks, students and profs from nearby UIC and the medical complex. Acres of TVs show whatever game is on, though customers' eyes tend to stray to the attractive girls serving drinks. Framed photos of Chicago's sports heroes line the walls, and chartered buses drive fans to Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks and White Sox home games. At night, tables are moved to make room for dancing; a DJ takes requests. Management says anything goes, but expect hip-hop, rock and urban contemporary. Daily food specials range from 20 cent wings Monday and Saturday, double cheeseburger Thursday ($4.95) and fish fry Friday ($6.95). Pizza, salads and sandwiches comprise the regular menu. Drink specials include a beer of the month (about $2), and Wednesday martini therapy ($4.50 cosmos and apple martinis) comes Hawkeye Pierce approved. On the whole this bar feeds you, fills you with beer then drives you to the game. Great for undergrads, but professionals may want to graduate to a more sophisticated scene.

"Good college bar trying to be a neighborhood tavern"

Good food, surprisingly wide selection of items---some are even healthy! Service is good, not great. Overall it's a fair value for a college bar/...

Who is cooking this food? The short cuts are noted. Good for drinks not for food!

This place is good for a drink, but for food you would be much better off at a fast food place. I am not a cook by any means but It is rare for me...
