Crobar

The door men were extremely nice, after that the service was horrible. Bartenders are too interested in texting and talking to the cocktail waitresses rather than…I don’t know…doing their job!? I recommend they fire all of their bar staff if they want people to ever come back.
Report This ReviewTHIS IS IT! This is the club that, out of all the others, defines Chicago's House scene. Crobar (a.k.a. The Beat Box). I've never had a bad time here, and I'm a dude! Usually it's the guys that get the short end of the service stick, but Crobar has always taken care of my friends and I. No, I don't "know" anyone or "have a connection", that's just their usual level of service. Great space. You can practically walk right up to the DJ booth and watch them spin! Again, this is a HOUSE CLUB, so don't go in expecting an intimate evening of conversation. The people come to DANCE. Regularly featuring local resident DJ's (Mixin' Marc, Alex Peace) and global talent (Eric Morillo, Benny Benassi, Victor Calderone, Bad Boy Bill) Crobar is the center ring of Chicago night-life circus. There might be a line out front, but I've never waited that long. And while the cover might be steep, you'd be paying double or even triple to see the same DJ talent in NYC or Miami.
The only reason I didn't give it 5-stars is that I think they are still looking for their identity as a club. They could do more. There is the potential to turn Crobar in to the equivalent of Sound Factory in NYC. To make it a true home for the House scene in Chicago. Hopefully, in time this will happen... For right now, they have a great foundation to build on and the only place they can go is UP!
Report This Reviewa legendary club. weekly guest djs from around the world and celebs are standard. the vip suite has the best vibe. the dj rocks it. in the main room the resident djs are way overrated !! drinks are overpriced
Report This ReviewDoorhost - 4 stars - Very friendly once he was aware of our table reservation. gneral admission seemed very difficult to gain admittance.
Ambiance - 3 stars - Great open airy space but tables are very small for bottle service.
Lighting - 3 stars - Lighting is good, but a place this size should have more to showcase. Too much void space on one wall with exposed metal beams.
Sound - 4 stars - Very good sound, among the top seven in the midwest. A bit more Bass in VIP area is needed.
DJ - 3 stars - Special event DJ was Sharam Jay from (Deep Dish). A good climatic set but took too long to get to the peak. Music selection was decent, but nothing amazing...
A few design improvements, additional lighting in the main room and sound in the VIP room would be a good idea to improve my view. This place has potential to be great, but it could not compete with TOP clubs in New York or Las Vegas at this stage.
Report This ReviewA lot of people are contradicting each others reviews. "The bar is too big and it takes up too much space." "The bar is too small, it's exaggerated in the pictures." Come on people. The place is a lot better than most of the clubs in Chicago. It's spacious, good environment, great staff. The prices are a bit $$$$. That's why I'm not giving a 5. But that is the only downside I see here. Other than that, they have multiple celebs at this place. More than the other places I know of. All around great club.

I could not believe how rude the staff was. I heard of being tough at the door, but these guys took it to a new level..I am a social events coordinator and i know the importance of customer service. You never know who you are being rude to.I was looking to book the whole place for a private event but after i saw how the bouncers were at the front door there is no way I will be going back there. First impression goes a long way. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
Report This ReviewThe space is pretty cool, but the cover is very high (something like $25) and doesn't include anything but admission. I agree with a few other posters here that the staff is very full of themselves and seem to think that working at this club grants them celebrity status. I have found it curious in the past that they will maintain a line to get into the club and inside it is empty. Very annoying. The drinks are expensive and weak, the music is okay. The crowd is a lot of occasional and/or suburban clug goers who don't get out too much. This bar was the coolest place in Chicago ten years ago when Dennis Rodman used to go. Like Dennis Rodman, Crobar is way past it's prime now.
Report This ReviewIf you like dancing, gorgeous people, and an amazing time, then Crobar is the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights. I've been to Enclave, Le Passage, Underground, Mannor, Mannequin, and many more....NONE of them compare to Crobar which recently has featured celebs like Lauren Conrad from the hit MTV series "The Hills", Mario Lopez, Kevin Dillon from "Entourage" and DJ's like David Guetta, Benny Banassi and many more. This club has it all...definitely worth checking it out!
Report This ReviewThere is no way I will ever return here. The bar takes up most of the space, the music was horrible. If you are 21 and this is your first nightclub experience, it might work, but if you are older don't waste your time going here.
