A rare combination of family atmosphere and nightclub setting makes this Jamaican restaurant/lounge a favored evening hangout. Serving the Washington Park community since 1959, the restaurant offers a comprehensive mix of Jamaican food and American diner-type dinners. Complementing the food is reggae music coming from the jukebox or a spun by a deejay. Richard, the seventy-something owner, opens the lounge sporadically these days. "I don't open every day anymore, because the deterioration of the community has hurt business." But, Richard says, he still feels obliged to his long-time customers. "They come, they eat, they drink and they stay."
