Irish Pub?? not really. Typical food found at thousands of places.....admittedly they do try to throw an Irish twist to things. I've tried this place twice and the wait staff sucked each time. Twenty-something waitresses not writing down orders and then having to ask us again, more concerned with getting off work that doing their job, BS-ing with friends at the bar, busboys mopping floors next to our table when there wasn't even a spill......no sign of any management. The bar has the ambiance of any sports bar in America. I'm still looking for a decent place in the Libertyville / Vernon Hills area.......so far Firkin tops the list.

Cozy place to meet friends for a drink and some food. Lots of beer choices. Service was fast and friendly. Would recommend to my friends.

I had never heard of this place but I tried Mccarthy's at their booth at the Mundelein festival around the 4th of July. Did not expect much from festival food but I tried the sweet potato fries and a burger. The sweet potato fries were the best I had ever had and were perectly sweet and crispy. Anyway I happened to be at the mall and stopped in to see it for myself although I did not have time to eat - I got some fries to go. It was clean and looked like a fun joint. It was crowded that day so it must be doing ok?

Finally a good place to hang out at the mall - which means I don't have to shop. I stopped in for a beer while my wife shopped the mall and I ended up eating lunch and watching a game on their big Screen - how cool is that. Try the slider burgers and a beer you can't go wrong. The chef/owner even came out and shook my hand and asked me how everything was - great service. I will come back.

I thought I would check this place out last Saturday night with some buddy's as it had replaced the old John's Garage at the Hawthorne Mall in VH. I walked into the bar and immediately felt at home (great selection of Beer!). The Bar staff was great and the drinks were even better. I ordered the Corn Beef Egg Rolls which were fantastic and a dozen of their mini-burgers which were perfect- it was a great starter for the group of guys I was with. I also tried their sweet Potato Fries and I could eat those all day. They also have big screen TV's in the bar to watch the game on and they had LIVE music that night which was really good (I can't recall the name of the band though). They were handing out free t-shirts and hats that night as well. It is my new favorite hang out in the burbs!
