this bar is of poor quality. for an all male staff, they are unfriendly. it is overpriced, and the music may be appealing to someone, but not anyone there this particular saturday nite. the atmosphere almost forced me and my friends out of the bar it was so bad. also, if you want to pick up gilrs, this is not the place to do it.
Report This ReviewQuenchers is the best bar in Chicago and the best in the U.S. Their only paltry fault is that Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, the original American craft beer, is not permanently on tap. No attitude, no airs, just great beer in a great environment. If you are a snooty, tasteless, tacky materialistic preening urbanite, or any of the above, don't go here.
Report This ReviewI have been to Quenchers many times in the past couple years and almost always it was a great time for many reasons. Because of limited writing space, the main reason that I'm writing is about their beer taps. I have found that usually the beer poured from their taps is of bad quality. Often it is flat, old tasting, and warm. I have tried many times to order draught beer and most often I am disappointed by the beer quality, as have been many other people that I have brought there. Sure, just order any bottled beer (of which there is an excellent selection) and you'll be fine. But for those of us who prefer to order a pint of draught beer at a pub, I have to say that I am sadly and consistently disappointed by the taps at Quenchers. Although Quenchers is still one of my favorites, there are several other places that I now go instead, that have at least proper (if not much better) taps.
Report This ReviewThis is a great hangout with cool owners. It's the kind of place to meet friends.
Report This ReviewI love quenchers, and I'm saying this for their own good: their new menu ("Q-food") sucks. Why pair an amazing beer selection with really bad food? I was perfectly happy with the free popcorn (with hot sauce, of course) or an occasional tamale from the tamale guy.
Report This ReviewGreat beer, knowledgeable staff, fair prices. A bit smoky, but, hey, it's a bar! Oh, yeah...free popcorn!!!
Report This ReviewOne of the best bar's I've ever been to in my life. I've been coming here for about the last 3 yrs and am somewhat of a regular. The phrase "where everyone knows your name" comes to mind. One of the most down to earth places left in Chicago where the bartenders can make a great drink and show you a great time. One of the best imported beer selections I've ever seen and live music almost every night. A perfect place but the free popcorn and amazing service puts it over the top.
Report This ReviewThis is an excellent bar; the only one I know to carry Argentine beer...way to go guys. Saw a good blues band there, I'm impressed. I'll definitely come back.
Report This ReviewThis "recent" addition to the north Bucktown or east Logan square neighborhood has been there at least since that New Years Eve in 1994 that my wife & I stopped there after sentencing two lobsters, recently aquired from the Jewel, to death for dinner that night. As people who dertermined where they would rent next year by the bars in walking distance, we found exactly what we were looking for, an unpretencious drinkers bar! Finally a place that understands exactly what it is and more importantly what is isn't. Quenchers is what every bar should be, a great place to sit on a snowy Saturday afternoon and have an conversation with your wife or buddy. The staff is by far the most friendly of any bar in Chicago. The owner, Earl knows how to & instructs his staff on how to make people feel at home and keep them coming back. The clientele changes after about 8:00PM, but that's O.K., because there is nothing you can do after dark that you can't do during the daylight. As a person who considers bars the most important feature of a neighborhood, Quenchers leaves nothing to be desired. By far the best bar in Chicago and so far, the best in the world!
Report This ReviewAll of the jazz bands have been great! I love the free popcorn and the wide selection of beer! The bar is usually not too crowded and it is not full of pretentious people. It is deffinitely the best bar I have been to so far.
