Although my girlfriend and I previously enjoyed the thin crust pizza at Piece, we had a terrible experience this past Sunday.
First, after waiting for 30-40 minutes for our pizza, we were told we would have to wait an addition 15-20 minutes due to a "faulty oven." When it did arrive, there was no apology from our waitress, it was way overcooked, the crust was hard as a rock and the slices were not even cut all the way through (obviously due to the hardness of the crust). We had to ask our waitress to take it back to the kitchen to get it cut again.
Furthermore, we were basically ignored by our waitress. It really wasn't that busy (we walked in and immediately got our table). We had to flag her down to get a re-fill on our soda/ice tea. We never got a refill on our waters. The second time we asked for a re-fill, she never came back. We ended up asking a bus-boy to get us our refills.
When we received the check, we noticed we were charged $2.00 for a side of anchovies (which we ordered) but was really a small sauce dish with 4-5 pieces in it. At least she could have offered a free dessert, or at the very least, not charge us for the small side of anchovies!
I can count on half a hand the number of times I have refused to leave a tip, and unfortunately this was one of those times. Thin crust pizza lovers beware of Piece!
Report This ReviewThe pizza at this place is really good, but I think that the best part is their beer. I love having different options and trying their homemade brews. Warning, the pizzas are huge! In my opinion, a small is definitely enough for two people (unless you're thinking leftovers).
Report This ReviewInteresting and different pizza at Piece on crazy ol' North Ave at the six corners. The staff think they are super 'hep2jive' and different, though hipsters like that are more common than the 'average joe'
Price is right for Piece, though if you don't like noise, don't go there in the evening.
Report This Reviewalthough our order got lost, and we had to wait 1+ hour for pizza (we were offered a free salad or appetizer, so I was okay with it...), i still felt positive about the place... it's fun to go with a group of friends... it's loud, but fun... the karaoke band is overwhelming though... i wouldn't go back if they were playing.
Report This ReviewGet over it. Everyone complains about the long wait and then proceeds to say that this or that wasn't worth the wait...Well, guess what?! The place is trendy, keep the waiting time out of your reviews of the food, unless, of course, it's after you've been seated. Anyway, I, for one, like this place. I like the bottled beer selection and I like their home brews. I like concept and the lack of decor (Plasmas and dimmed light bulbs for the most part). Sometimes I've had really good service and other times not so good. I have been to Piece over 10 times and there are a few things that remain consistent: a long wait, a buzz to the crowd, good pizza (the slices are thin and long enough to dangle at the end-I would not call that soggy, but a side effect), and really solid micro brews (top heavy is sometimes sold out which is my only complaint along with long waits/no rsvp's). Any way you slice it, I know I'm a dork, Piece Pizza is worth a try--just put your name down and get drunk at Santulo's next door for 90mins.
Report This ReviewI agree, Matt, infomercials and business do not mix. I'm the manager who made the decision to air it last night. It was my mistake and, unfortunately, once I committed to the program I could not change it. This will never happen again.
We work very hard to do a great job always at Piece, worthy of four-five stars. I am giving us three stars for my mistake. I apologize for it and assure that this will never
happen again.

This is the best thin crust in town, and their beer is fantastic. I really love this place, so it pains me to say I'll not be back. I was there just last night, with a friend, enjoying great music, great conversation and of course great food and drink, when they turned the music off, and turned up the volume for Obama's info-mercial.
It was so loud that you couldn't really do anything but listen to it. It was very distracting and really killed the atmosphere. This has nothing to do with Obama (I would've felt the same way if it was McCain on TV). I just don't appreciate feeling like someone's political agenda is being pushed on me, especially while I'm out to enjoy pizza and beer.
I'm very disappointed.
Report This ReviewPiece is by far the greatest pizza in the city of Chicago. As a New England native, I searched far and wide for a good crust and found it here. Thier homemade sauce and variety of toppings is the best in the city and rivals any chain pizza place. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it has become way too crowded! If you want to go even on a weeknight there is at least a 20 minute wait if you get there after 6. So I guess my only complaint is that too many agree with me!
Report This ReviewPiece is one of the worst places I've ever been to. It was over an hour wait when I went there which was only tolerated because they have decent beer. After being seated, I was treated to the worst pizza I've ever had. I likened it to Totinos frozen pizzas. Barely any cheese at all and all the toppings slid right off the slippery saucy crust, which was disgustingly salty and chewy. I will never go back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There's a couple other pizza places right in the same area which are cheaper, taste better, and don't have near as long of a wait
Report This ReviewWe have been in the bucktown neighborhood for 7 years and have always loved the pizza at Piece. Unfortunately, it's become such a popular hang out for the Lincoln parkers who have infiltrated the area that now their food and service are suffering! Although we only waited about 45 min for a table for 8 on a Friday night, our pizza was literally soggy with the toppings all over the place. I mean you can't do that with thin crust pizza! I think they were just trying to get the food served because they were so busy, but I have to say that I will probably think twice before going back again.
If you really want great pizza, go to Coalfire or Pequod's. If you need to entertain friends and are more concerned about the "vibe" and atmosphere, then I suppose it's an okay place.
