Delightful venue after work or on a weekend

As a Chicagoan living overseas (Tokyo & Hong Kong), I love all the neighborhood taps, pubs, bars, diners, joints, gin mills, and restaurants..

A few years ago, I was re-visiting Chicago after two long years away in Asia, I discovered O'Learys and upon entering, I discovered it was owned by the former owner of O'Callaghans.

The owner is a teriffic mixologist and a very gregarious chap---with a great staff and lovely wife.

I love the real CHICAGO-feel of the place and their devotion to my beloved WHITE SOX.

The next time I leave Asia, I 'm going back to O'LEARY'S for good food drink and great conversation.

I recommended with two thumbs up (apologies to the Late Gene S. & Roger E.),

Great Place to Hang out with after work crowd.

This is a great place...when we were in the neighborhood, after work, holidays and even on the weekends, we would have a great time with Jim Bo and Pat all the bartenders....They treat you like family. Their Hurricanes and food around Mardi Gras are the best! For St Patricks Day....it is a fun place to be. It is like a neighborhood bar in downtown! Always a pleasure! :0)

The little bar that couldn't

The opening description from Metromix about this place seems a bit outdated. Last time I was there, there were at least 12 tv's and the bartenders looked more annoyed at serving drinks than they were at serving smiles. If there is any appeal to this place, it is the fact that people can enter and have a drink or two without feeling out of their element. Because of the location, O'leary's gets away with charging steep prices for their drinks. Under no circumstances should a Long Island with "Well Drinks" be 12 bucks. Buyer Beware!

Decent drink deals, but overly crowded and our waiter was very unattentive. Wouldn't go back anytime soon.

This place is AWESOME.. I was walking home from work one day and found this place. What a discovery, the bartenders are super friendly so are the patrons. I was treated like a regular from the moment I walked into the joint. If your looking for good food, a great juke box, and a place to just have a little fun, this is the bar for you...
