Green Door Tavern
- Neighborhood: River North
- 678 N. Orleans St.
- Chicago, IL 60610
- 312-664-5496
- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
The bar in this River North building built in 1872--a year after the Chicago Fire--has a colorful history as a grocery store, restaurant and speakeasy. Antiques, bric-a-brac and cash registers decorate the bar to keep up this classic, old-school Chicago feel. A selection of 10 beers on tap includes Guinness and Fat Tire, and the menu features burgers and pasta dishes. Nearby workers stop in for lunch during the day, while at night, young professionals in their 20s and 30s, local regulars and some tourists stop in for a quiet drink and dinner.
