Goose Island Brewpub
- Neighborhood: Sheffield/De Paul
- 1800 N. Clybourn Ave.
- Chicago, IL 60614

- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
Fresh-beer enthusiasts have always benefited from the Goose Island label in the Chicago area. But the nectar is served up even fresher in the label's own brew pub. The menu features more than 50 different ales and lagers, including Honkers Ale, Ceres Wheat, XXX Porter and Naughty Goose. A large central bar is often jam-packed with an after-work crowd watching Cubs or Bears games.
The Clybourn brewpub's brought in new talent to spice things up for 2009: John Manion (known for his eats at Mas and Old Oak Tap) has tweaked food menu, while Paul Johnston (formerly of The Bluebird) will serve as cicerone (a beer sommelier). Expect to see more beer pairings, locally sourced ingredients and even a reserve list of brews.
Tours of the brewery take place at 3 and 4:30 p.m. every Sunday, followed by a brewer-led tasting. All this -- and souvenirs, too -- for just $5.
