I have been to this bar many times over the past 5 years and its always been a great neighborhood hangout and still is.Don't listen to the bad reviews,haters!There is a new chef in the kitchen and the salads are awesome!!! The staff is friendly,there are games to play,outdoor seating in the summer.....great place to chill anytime,in summer post cubs game,watch sports,free wireless....check it out before the word gets out and it becomes too crowded.....

I've been here in the past and had mostly good experiences but agree with some of the previous comments of slow service, inconsistent food...BUT there are some new people working and my last waitress was great, as well as the food. This is a casual place for some good food, (the salads are great) and laid back people. Fun place to catch the games too...You should definitely give it another chance!!!

I really like this place. The food is good, and it has the feel of an old-time good time bar. Southport is so expensive and snobby now its great to have somewhere nearby where you can relax and be yourself. I've always had great service; I usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are always chatty and fun. I will definately continue to go here.

We dedicded to give this place another try, big MISTAKE!! The service was slow, we couldn't get the waitress's attention who was too busy chit chatting. The food tasted like it had been warmed over all night. Plus the bathrooms were filthy. Waste of money!!!

Being new to the Southport area, my girlfriends and I have found Newport to be a great place to hang out before we tear up the town! Great food for your money (HUGE SALAD'S and CHICKEN TENDERS!), good service...it's like Southports version of "Cheers". Friendly atmosphere and easy place to actually talk. Spike the bartender is a nice guy and the bar has some nice looking guys hanging out at the bar!! My friends and I are new to the area and will be at Newports more often!!!
