One of my post-work faves

Emerald Loop is a great spot for a lunch-time or post-work meal along with some cold libations. I went here yesterday after work with co-workers and friends and enjoyed a cold Guinness 250 in the popular, yet roomy bar area. I stayed for dinner with some college friends and really enjoyed Emerald's take on the classic corned beef sandwich. Larger, meaty slices instead of thin, standard ones. Very tasty!

AWFUL, TERRIBLE, HARRID SERVICE!!!

I picked this place because it seem like it would be a chill place to meet my roommate’s new boyfriend. I was starving and decided to go up to the bar to order an appetizer and beer because our waitress was no where in sight. While I was at the bar, I decided that I would make the check lighter on my guy and pay for the appetizer and my drink at the bar. Being a waitress myself I didn’t think this was a big deal. Boy, was I wrong. It was the most ridiculous situation I ever found myself in while out to eat. Our waitress was soo rude to me, when she found out I had go to the bar to get my drink and appetizer. She not only made my guests feel uncomfortable, but made me feel like I was a 4 year-old who had just messed myself in a public place. We are in a recession and she is lucky that she even has people sitting at her tables. I will not be going back and whenever I find myself in a situations talking about horrid service at a restaurant this story will surely come up.

Fun Saturday Night

I am a school teacher from the south side and made it north for a date on Saturday. My boyfriend and I were looking for a few drinks and made it into the Emerald Loop. Neither of us had been there before and sat at a table near the bar. The crowd was lively and we were next to the dj who was taking requests, it was so much fun as he had the bar singing and dancing. The waitress was Carrie and she was laughing right with us as she brought our drinks. It was such a great night, the crowd, music, staff, we are looking forward to being back.

Friday Afternoon
By Mark Davis from Naperville, February 2, 2009

Overall rating:

Three of us stopped by for a few drinks after work on a Friday afternoon. There was only one open table and it only had one stool, but the hostess immediately greeted us and brought two additional chairs over right away, which was a warm greeting and made our stay relaxing and comfortable. Great beer selection on draft and in bottles, though they were out of my first choice, Spaten. We only had chips and salsa, but it was a very generous order with a lot of very fresh chips and flavorful, spicy salsa. Will definitely return.

Lunch Order in Shambles
By Ladedada from Loop, August 8, 2008

Overall rating:

We had an office going away lunch and ordered takeout from Emerald Loop. Seemed like a great idea due to their extensive hamburger topping selection. Unfortunately, not one order was properly executed. Upon returning to the office, none of the burgers were on pretezel buns, the toppings that costed extra (avocado for $1.25) were absent, etc.
We will never order from them again and suggest you not either!

Unoriginal, but decent.

Food was good, atmosphere was unoriginal, service was quick and friendly. It worked for us, we just needed a quick bite before a show.

Rude, Rude Waitress
By tgar from South, May 7, 2008

I was with a large group of people and we had spead out a bit because 15 can't fit at one table. But the waitresses came up and made us move saying this is my table and I don't want you guys leaning or sitting around it. One lady made me move my purse of the chair next to me saying "is this chair just for your purse ?". If there was someone looking to sit in the chair I would have moved it but there wasn't any who needed it at that time. They even came and took one of my friends chairs without checking if someone was sitting there. I would understand the rudeness if we weren't ordering anything but we were, food and multiple drinks per person.

Later it really loud and crowded and someone knocked a tray full of beer on my friends and I. Did we get a "sorry about that, here is a napkin" Nope.

I would NEVER go there again and I tell everyone I meet to aviod it like the plague.

Loud, obnoxious and expensive
By Jake from lakeview, February 9, 2008

I thought I would give this place a try on a Thursday evening after works since I have walked pass it many times and it looked like a nice Irish bar. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I will not being going back. The beer selection is not bad but apparently draft beers downtown now set you back at least $6.50 these days. The place was so loud I couldn’t even have a conversation with the person sitting less than a foot across from me. After 10 minutes of trying to have a conversation I just gave-up for fear of losing my voice. I ordered the fish and chips and despite being the most expensive fish and chips I have had in Chicago the quality was minimal at best. There are plenty of Irish bars in the City that offer much more quality for the price – and that are not obnoxiously loud.
