Dueling pianos
By Elmhurstchick18 from Elmhurst, September 5, 2009

went to FP not expecting much-you know- Irish bars... but DRyan's was having a dueling piano night. VERY FUN! A smaller version of howl at the moon. Pianos set up in side room seating is limited so if you show up late plan on standing-or dancing as some were. They're having another one Sept 11th (dont remember the start time) My friends and I will be there! It was a good time- esp. because those bartenders pour HEAVY drinks! more for your money!!!

I didn't like it

Went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago (Friday). The half-price appetizers were appreciated, but the nachos were totally burned on the edges! Also the cheese on the pizza bread didn't taste good. Drinks were ok and reasonable but... REALLY, plastic cups?? In this day and age?? Rooftop patio was cool, but pretty crowded. Probably would not go back again (many other better spots on Madison).

Not the best place in Forest Park
By mpf from Riverside, December 22, 2007

I have been to Docs several times and never seem to feel comfortable there and not for lack of trying. Unless your a regular customer the staff is not that friendly. The food is fair and the prices are what seem to be the norm around town. Over all not a place I would suggest to people looking for a nice place to go. May give it one more try but I dont expect much to change.

Good early-twenties bar
By Guy Incognito from Oak Park, October 31, 2007

As a newly-turned 30-year-old, I enjoy going to Doc Ryan's for a taste of the old days. Translation: I miss binge drinking and staring awkwardly at attractive single girls. Anyway, Doc Ryan's is a kids bar, so it has a fun energy. Never had the food.

Best bar to see the under 30 crowd (i.e. attractive girls.) in the Oak Park/River Forest Area. Food is bland but Julie the bartender is fast, patient and a good reason to come back if you belly up to the bar.

Doc Ryan's is a great place to go. The pizza was great & the Turkey Rueban was "real" turkey breast & was awesome. It's an older crowd (seniors till about 7:00 p.m.) and then turns into a young people's place. They have Karaoke every Wednesday night and live music on Saturday's. The music is always something you can dance to! The rooftop beergarden in a summertime wonderland! We had a great time & definitely plan on going back. Check it out.

We ate at Doc's a few weeks ago on a Friday night. Sat outside, on the rooftop deck. It was a beautiful night to sit outside, and it's a good thing, because the service was so bad all we could do was enjoy the view. We couldn't figure out if we have a 'new' server, or someone that was just plain slow, but our order took close to 1/2 hour to arrive - a half hour for a burger and some quesadillas? Come on.

We won't be returning soon.

Yes, Yes, Yes...The food is ok, but the atmosphere and service is great. Remember this is "bar" food but the pizza. Parking was not a problem, but it does get a little noisy. I would give this palce a try!

Nice 2 level "twenty something"...
By Dave B. from Oak Park, IL, May 9, 2003

Overall rating:

Nice 2 level "twenty something" bar with a full bar on each level. Has lots of Bar games (ie; Golden Tee,Pop-a-shot etc.). Also has cool rectractable roof. Nice overall bar to grab a drink, but unless your under 30 your probably better off going to when the dozen or so other bars on Madison St. in Forest Park.
