I love this place. The best thin crust pizza thin crust pizza for miles around; good salads and sanwiches; the dinners I've tried have all been good; and the selection of draft beers is very good. Plus it is the only restaurant in the area where people appear to be having fun while they are eating.
Report This ReviewBluestone is one of those places that " was" once a reliable stop for a higher than normal quality Pub fare. There was usually a good crowd around the bar and food was reliable and they served until around 11PM. I recently stopped there and it was not the same place. The operative word here is "was". At 9:30 the normal menu was replaced with one of the worst bar menus I have seen. Outrageously overprices quesadillas and nachos and a couple of salads is about all you can get after 9:30 PM. Slim picking has definitely affected this place in more ways than lack of customers. I’d stay away or go to CJ Arthurs in Wilmette. They serve until 11PM or 12AM and are very accommodating if you are late. I left Bluestone at 10:15PM and had one of the best burgers I’ve tasted at CJ Arthur’s at 11:00PM

My daughter had been there before and enjoyed her meal so we tried it for a family dinner. The service is good, but the food is pretty average. And they REALLY need to drain their lettuce. Two of us had salads and they were very watery on the bottom - something I never expect to see in a good restaurant. My Cobb salad was also bland. And the Beef Stroganoff was very average. Sad to say, 3 out of 5 of us said we probably wouldn't go back.

Always a busy place before the game. Great place to enjoy a drink and good dinner. BBQ Chicken Pizza is their signature dish, and for a reason. One in our group will get it everytime. Love it. Seafood pasta is a pass. Service seems to be streched sometimes, but always friendly and welcoming. Overall enjoyable.

I have never written a review before but after my experience at Bluestone I feel compelled to alert potential customers. It's hard to imagine a more mundane meal than the one I had recently while sitting at the bar. The bartender, a young man who openly sneered at the customers, was not only rude but he also poured a lousy drink. The nachos were ice cold and covered with cheez whiz. These people aren't even trying. Save your money.

i have come to this establishment many times and for some reason it is looked down upon that i will be dining alone. almost every time i come i am asked to sit where ever i would like and more often then not i would love to sit in one of the four booths that is offered.. except that i am redirected to a small table only good for two. i understand that i would be taking space fit for many but i am a paying customer and if i am told to sit where i so choose i would like to do this. i came in on wednesday night and the person who sat me was the person who ended up serving me. she was friendly from the start. she did the usual told me to sit where i liked and i chose a booth thinking i would get poor service but this was not the case. this girl was more then friendly with me and as i watched her work she took just as good care of me as she did her other tables that were packed with diners. she recomended the specials very highly and she was right. i got a grouper that was wonderful. she often checked back with a smile on her face. this showed me that being a single diner in a big booth was not a bad thing on my part. for she took such great care of me that i left her what she deserved.... a $20 tip and this review for her excellent service! thank you!

i love this place! don't pass it up. the negative reviews surprise me because i eat here often and although there can be too many 'rugrats' in the early evening, it has a wonderful neighborhood feel. as a lifelong chicagoan, it is just like the place i grew up going to that my uncle owned at 19th and Damen...awesome stuff.
it's obvious that the owners really care about making this a wonderful experience for their patrons. both the husband and wife team are really nice and make everyone feel special. i especially like the calamari which few places get right. they also have a great selection of 'comfort foods' that make me feel like i'm home. and just recently, they brought back a chef that used to be there and he makes awesome specials. and the bartender named Ben is really a nice guy and a great mixologist.
i'll go back many times and think people will be happy with this place.

We arrived at 11am, Bluestone opens earlier then normal on Northwestern football game days. The place was empty when we arrived, but filled up quickly. Even while the place was packed, we rec'd impeccable service! The food good, the crowd diverse, and the overall experience was awesome. I will be back when going to another Northwestern Game!

This place is popular because it is the only pub/restaurant in the neighborhood, and it's location makes it extremely attractive to people in walking distance. It seems that they are doing pretty well on neighborhood benefit of the doubt, but one or two more places offering the same atmosphere and basic bar fare would either put Bluestone out of business immediately or, ideally, force them to clean up their act with respect to their food and service.
Aside from the cheese quesadilla or simple burger that anyone with $5 and a stove can make, the food is terrible, spanning from boring to complicated fare (wasabi mayo) that is clearly beyond their skill level. The atmosphere is fantastic as long as you can tolerate/position yourself away from the huge, blaring tvs and the boisterous multitudes of children that occasionally jam the place. A lot of people, including myself, seem to want this place to succeed - I hope Bluestone gets the message before too many of us lose patience with the sub-par food!
