The owners of The Continental and Darkroom are behind this double-wide lot in West Town—and the front 1,500 square feet of that space is a beer garden. The whole idea of the tap is to bring the outside in, so look for a modern rustic decor that makes use of stone and reclaimed oak, among other natural materials. Chef John Manion (of the now-shuttered MAS) consulted on the menu; expect choices such as a buttermilk fried chicken salad with green goddess dressing, super-spicy fish tacos and thick homemade pretzels with Guinness-spiked cheese dip. Though Manion left for Goose Island in January 2009, his well-loved dishes will remain on the menu, along with some additions from new chef Jason Vandegraft. Good news for beer lovers: the bar is stocked with more than 30 choices, including 12 taps that will change seasonally.
Never fear, alfresco lovers: Old Oak has tented half of its front-yard beer garden and peppered it with heat lamps, so you can still get the thrill of outdoor imbibing even when the temps aren't cooperating.

I love this place. Cool and a nice crowd, with not too many Lincoln Park clones! Hope it can stay way. Great food and drinks. The patio is awesome.
