I...like it.

On a great day, northside is great. Even on a cold winter's day I was able to enjoy myself underneath the heating lamps. The food is really good. Their food specials are fun to try. The ambiance is really, really nice. I mean, for Bucktown. However, the service is- SLOW. Make sure you order two drinks at once. It doesn't mean that the waitstaff isn't the nicest- they just need some help. Or something. Food gets out pretty fast. Drinks, not so much. I say: try it.

Never Again
By John S. from Lincoln Park, January 7, 2008

Due to the long wait at Piece, the more lively and less pretentious establishment around the corner from Northside, my friends and I decided to head into Northside for some food and drinks. This turned out to be a big mistake. After putting in our name, we waited for almost 2 hours and never eneded up being seated. Turns out our wait time went past 10pm which is when open seating starts. The hostess didn't bother to tell my group of 7 that we were no longer on a list waiting for a table. No apology was given by a manager or the hostess. Needless to say we eneded up heading back to Piece for some real food and service. I will never waste my time in Northside again.

Not really a sports bar...but

Absolutely no better place for a grown-up to watch sports and still visit with buds.
The falafel was just like Sultan market's but bigger.

The actual building and set...

The actual building and set up is awesome, very comfortable. The waitresses are hot, the food is okay. It's like a good sweat shirt, nothing fancy, okay food, but you still love it.

I have eaten at Northside...

I have eaten at Northside about 5 times. When I dined on Tuesday I was a bit let down. I took two of my friends who had never been there before raving that I loved the place and the food was great. We sat out on the patio (So peaceful). Our waitress was kinda boring, wasn't real enthused and didn't come by much to check on us. My friends didn't care for their food and my fries were lacking any kind of flavor. Never got asked for a refill on our drinks either. Is this place going in the gutter? I hope not!

HI - I used to...

HI - I used to love this place (beautiful with exposed brick, outdoor patio), but it is WAY TOO LOUD. We ate dinner there this past Saturday, and eventually, everyone just gave up talking (you had to yell to hear each other - not a relaxing din din!). The salads that we got, however, were great. Staff did not seem to happy, and I don't blame 'em! If I want music that I can't talk over, I'd go to dance club!

This place used to be...

This place used to be my favorite hangout of all time. I don't really know what happened, it took a wrong turn down the Pretentiousness Turnpike pretty quickly. The food and beer became overpriced and the clientele (who I loved to meet and shoot pool with) thought they were just too cool for school. Try Matilda's, Corcorans, ANYTHING but here!

Some restaurants put a sandwich...
By Julia Bamborough from Chicago, IL, June 24, 2006

Overall rating:

Some restaurants put a sandwich on the special menu because it is especially good. Not here. Not the turkey and provolone with chipolte mustard on 7-grain bread. Sounds good, doesn't it? That's what I thought. Til I saw and tasted it. I literally had to look inside to see where the ingredients were. In ranking order (pun intended) we had bread (ok), chipotle mayo (chunky), a bit of smoked turkey, whose edge hanging out of the bread looked like bacon, and what may have been a slice of provolone, but it had completely melted into the bread and was devoid of any descernable flavor. Served with some cold, soft (not in a good way) mixed vegetables, this was one of the more disappointing sandwiches in memory. The server tried. The people are pretty. Maybe next time, we'll stick with a drink. Or better yet, try one of the other myriad of places in town with pretty people and good food.
