Never Served!

We wanted to sit outside and we saw a server, so we asked her if we could sit any place that we wanted so we sat outside near the front. She was going inside the restaurant when I asked. She never asked us if she could get us drinks or anything like that. We wait about 10 minutes and she hasn't come back outside. Other people are being served by other servers. We go inside to see what is going on and another server asked if she could help us and we said YES, we have been outside and wanted to get served and she and the other server said that someone would be out to take our order. Well, we sit down outside again and they both walk past us to help others. The one lady who intially said that we could sit down outside brought out one drink for a couple who were also outside. Neither one of them came over to us and asked us anything. So we got up and left. Horrible service! Surprising for a place that I used to hear about.

Went to Chicago Joe's with a friend expecting to have a good time. The place itself seemed ok, although I definitely wasnt expecting an old blue-hair diner setting. We ordered 2 appetizers along with our meal. The appetizers actually came out minutes AFTER our entrees, and it seemed to take forever. The friend I was with ordered the sloppy joes, and when he got it the bun was so hard that it made a knocking noise when he tapped it with his silverware. When we told the waitress about it, she took the plate away without saying anything, and did not return. At this point we assumed that she would be bringing him a replacement, but when she returned about 10 minutes later she asked him if he would like to order something else. I had to share half of my meal so that he could have something to eat!!! The waitress made no apologies, and at the end of the meal, she actually completely dismissed our table and we ended up paying our tab at the bar. If I could give this place less than one star I would. I read negative reviews about restaurants quite a bit, but always keep a positive attitude until I experience them for myself. Unfortunately, I should have listened to some of the bad reviews here, and now I will NEVER step into this place again!!!

Tasty Strings, Meh Service

Mini burgers with swiss and avocado were cooked perfectly to medium, and were very tasty. Onion strings like these are probably going to be on the menu every day in heaven. Most of the menu is pretty greasy, so you can't eat here often if you want to keep your girlish figure.

Service was meh. Waitress did not understand that Diet RC is NOT THE SAME as Diet Coke. I am not a fan of waitress eye-rolling.

I'm really amazed at all the good reviews! I'm not a picky eater, so for ME to dislike a place is pretty bad. The service was definitely friendly, I'll give it that. We ordered the coconut shrimp to start (which I beleive was $10 for 5) and they brought out 5 tiny shrimp which I'm pretty sure had been microwaved. Very rubbery. Served on a few pieces of shredded lettuce on a cheap plate popular in dorms everywhere.

There's "home cooking" that's wonderful soul food that you grew up eating, then there's "home cooking" which is the crap you threw together in college when you were too poor to afford real food. I found this place to be the latter.

keep up the good work joe, it was great! When we walked in i could tell that it was family friendly. Our food was amazing, I got the seafood and its the best in the neighborhood, and just by looking at the menu you could see its their specialty, but my boyfriend got chicken wings and he said they were just as good!

We eat at Joe’s almost every weekend, but it is a great place for drinks and food or a casual family dinner any night of the week. The staff is fun and friendly, and if you return, you’ll have no doubt they’re glad your back! They have great food and drink specials everyday. You should sign up for their e-mail specials to get very generous offers, like $10 off your bill or two for one Sunday Brunch. The food is great! There are a variety of dishes, but I recommend the calamari (fried or grilled), blackened shrimp, cheeseburger, and for a fabulous dinner, the Greek chicken. The portions are generous and delicious. So, EAT AT JOE’S, you won’t regret it!

This is my boyfriends and I favorite restaurant! We both get the same thing everytime we go: Steak Sandwich and Fries with a side of ranch! These are the best fries around and the best ranch! I highly reccommend Chicago Joes!

Stumbled onto disapointment...

My wife and I drove by on Sundayy and there were a lot of cars so we decided to stop in. We were seated right away. The Sunday brunch didn't look that appealing. I ordered a cheese burger "well-done". The waiter came before I had taken the first bite and asked how our food was...my well done burger ended up being medium instead. The waiter seemed less than interested. I would say the food is sub-par. Chicago Joe's would be a good place perhaps if you are up late at night and hungry. I will never recommend it to someone and probably won't go there again.

My partner and I work late and so are often in the position of dining out after 9 PM. Chicago Joe's kitchem is open late and so, we've become regular's there. The daily specials come with soup or salad and the portions are ample and delicious. Prices are moderate in the 8 to 15 dollar range. We found the meals a good value for the money.
Although by no means haute cuisine, the dinners are a number of steps above typical bar fare. Typically I go for a fish entre and fish is fresh and never over prepared.
As for atmoshere the place is charming, although a bit loud for my 60 year old ears on game nights when the bar crowd can get enthusastic.
We have never found the the service lacking, the wait staff and bus folks are attentive and quick to please.
As you can tell I enjoy Chicago Joe's. A wek seldom goes by without my stopping in for a meal once or twice. I recommend it highly.
