What a steal!
Houndstooth Saloon's sliders deal is a real steal

It’s opening day! If you’re a Cubs fan, that means you’re about to start spending a lot more time in Wrigleyville—even when you don’t have tickets or the Cubbies are on the road, we all know it’s more fun to watch the game on home turf. Of course, too many celebratory beers can take a toll on your bank account. To make sure you still have some cash left over when it’s time to buy World Series tickets in the fall, check out these Wrigleyville deals.

Brunch, $5
If a beer-drinking afternoon in the bleachers is in your future, you’re going to need to fuel up first. Our suggestion: the $5 brunch menu at The Dark Horse Tap and Grille. The a la carte lineup includes French toast, build-your-own omelets, breakfast burritos, fried egg burgers and Tex-Mex home fries slathered with chili or cheese, fried eggs and jalapenos. Each item is just $5.
When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Usually offered on home game days, but call to check availability.

Mini-burgers, two for $1
After you work up a healthy appetite heckling that punk-ass ump, skip the post-game White Castle run and slide into Houndstooth Saloon instead. Grilled and topped with cheese and onions, these patties are priced like their fast food brethren at two for just a buck. In the immortal words of Harry Caray: Holy cow! More reasons to forgo the drive-through: $3 Jameson and SoCo Lime shots and $5 Miller Lite pitchers.
When: Thursdays

Tacos, five for $4
Here’s a steal worthy of hall-of-famer Ryne Sandberg: Five tacos for just $4 from Mullen’s on Clark. These little power hitters are filled with beef, cheese, lettuce and tomato, and served with salsa and sour cream. As Ronnie Wickers would say: Woo! Woo!
When: Tuesdays; not available on home game days.

Mac and cheese bar, $5.95
If you’re in for a big beer-swilling day in Wrigleyville, we recommend leading off with a serious serving of carbs and cheese. For $5.95, Risque Cafe loads up your mac with your choice of toppings such as bacon, asparagus, peas, pulled pork, roasted red peppers and broccoli. Includes a side salad and your choice of dressing. Close out with $2 PBR tallboys.
When: Wednesdays. W’ville confidential: This special isn’t available during home games, but you can still score the mac and cheese bar as part of an $8.99 buffet.

Crab cakes, two for $4.50
Need a break from the usual ballpark fare? Go for a changeup with two crab cakes for $4.50 (regularly $9) at Moxie. These tasty little pan-seared bites of fresh crab, corn, roasted red peppers, chiles and scallions are served with a Cajun remoulade and topped with roasted corn salsa. Also on deck: A selection of 25 glasses of wine at half-price ($3-$4 each, regularly $6-$8).
When: Tuesdays
