'Sex' up the city
Cosmos for everyone: The much-anticipated "Sex and the City" movie premieres May 30, and we can’t wait to catch up with Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. There’s wild speculation about the plot (Do Carrie and Big get hitched? And does someone really die?) but one thing’s certain: It’ll be worth watching for the fabulous fashion and Manolos alone. Think you’re just like one of the girls? Take turns in the lead role for a SATC-themed night out.

You’re a Carrie if …
You spend more money on shoes than rent, live for a night out at the latest hot spot, and have enough relationship drama to fill more columns than Carrie could ever write.

Aspiring Carries go straight for a little retail therapy at Wicker Park’s Intermix. The newest local outpost of the New York-based boutique stocks M Missoni, Diane von Furstenberg and other must-have designers—many at a price point within reach of an actual newspaper columnist.

Show off your threads at just-opened L20, helmed by Laurent Gras, the superstar (and super-cute) French-accented chef. The sleek interior and ebony tabletops at this mostly prix-fixe spot sound just as stylish as the SATC star.

A Carrie can’t head home without a nightcap, so head to heavily hyped Rebar. We think nameplate necklace–era Carrie would love the Teco ($14), a blend of Stoli Razberi, raspberry puree, grapefruit juice and champagne garnished with 23-karat gold.

You’re a Samantha if …
You can’t keep track of who you’ve dated, you're well-connected to the city’s tastemakers, and you don’t give a damn what others think of you.

Reserve cabana-style seating on the swanky, secluded patio at Avenue M (pictured) for some light dishes—and dishing—with the girls. The ivy-covered outdoor lounge scene would suit PR maven Samantha to a tee.

Make dinner plans at Asian-inspired small plates spot Shochu. Channel Sam on the night she met hunk “Smith” Jerrod and hone in on the menu’s “Oh baby I like it raw” section. Wash it down with the restaurant’s namesake, a popular (and low-cal!) Japanese spirit distilled from rice, sweet potato or barley.

End your evening at Hotel Sax’s sexy Crimson Lounge, where the exotic signature scent, bold hues and a good chance for celeb sightings put you in the mood for a little, uh, hob-knobbing.

You’re a Miranda if …
You don’t bat an eye over 14-hour work days, you're fiercely addicted to your TiVo, and you're the voice of reason among your girlfriends.

You put in a long day at the office, now put in some well-deserved time with your pals at Mid-town Kitchen + Bar. The central Loop spot draws a professional crowd for after-work drinks, so corporate lawyer Miranda would fit right in.

Mingle with the Young Professionals of Chicago—after all, your career comes first. The networking group hosts three or four gatherings per month, from happy hours to sports outings. Next up: a professional development workshop. 6-8 p.m. May 28. $20 for members, $30 for non-members. 111 S. Wacker Dr., 29th Floor. Visit ypchicago.org or call 312-927-9972 for more info.

Cap off a night with dinner at Shikago, a Financial District spot frequented by ambitious power brokers. But if your friend is anything like Miranda, she might surprise you and end up with the bartender instead.

You’re a Charlotte if …
You have an apartment befitting a glossy spread in a home journal, generally act prim and proper, and long for your romantic fairytale ending.

Demure Charlotte types head to afternoon tea at the Palm Court at the Drake Hotel. Nibble scones, pastries and finger sandwiches while debating the merits of princess- versus asscher-cut diamonds. Offered 1 to 5 p.m. daily. $27.50.

Keep up your Park Avenue-princess appearance with a mani and pedi ($24 and $45 and up, respectively) or facial ($90 and up) at serene
Spa Space. Book ahead, as organized Charlotte clearly would.

In a nod to her pre-Trey Mac Dougal days, make like the former art gallery pro Charlotte and join the Chicago Arts District’s 2nd Fridays gallery walk in Pilsen. Scope works by emerging artists—as well as the emerging artists themselves. Next up: 6-10 p.m. June 13. Galleries surround 18th and Halsted Streets. Chicagoartsdistrict.org for more info.
