DuPage County Historical Museum
Handsome permanent exhibits include a general history of the county, chronicling early settlers, agriculture, Civil War soldiers, medicine, science (Fermilab and Argonne are in DuPage County), and transportation. The DuPage County Historical Museum has extensive photographs, a serious costume collection and a major HO-gauge model train (it runs the third and fifth Saturdays of the month) that salutes the railroad's importance in the development of one of the nation's wealthiest counties. Events are held year-round, with demonstrations of country crafts such as tinsmithing, wood carving and quilting; other programs focus on topics of local and business history. During the winter holidays, the place is decked out in Victorian style.
