Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art
- Neighborhood: East Village / Ukrainian Village

A real find for art lovers who venture away from the downtown scene, the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art features three permanent galleries displaying works of Ukrainian and Ukrainian-American artists. Distinctly modern, the collection concentrates on mixed media, sculpture and paintings. Some images are abstract versions of Old World folk art; others are entirely whimsical, political and even digital. A fourth gallery features a changing variety of works. This large, well-lit area also hosts evening music recitals and lectures; the museum is a gathering place for the small but strong Ukrainian community that is hanging on in this part of the West Side.
